Innovative Approach to Bone Health: Onero Exercise Programme and Clinic Expansion
Physiotherapist Judith Anne Gould is making waves in the field of bone health with her innovative approach to preventing osteoporosis and osteopenia. Gould founded Prohealth Posture Plus in 2007 in Hong Kong’s Central district, and two years ago, she set up a bone density clinic to address the rising number of clients with bone-related issues.
The demand for Gould’s services has been so high that her clinic recently expanded to accommodate more patients. While menopausal women are at higher risk for bone weakening, Gould emphasizes that bone health is important for people of all ages and genders.
To promote bone health, the International Osteoporosis Foundation recommends a five-step approach, including a nutritious diet, maintaining a healthy body weight, regular exercise, and getting a bone density scan to assess risk factors.
Gould’s clinic offers an exercise program called Onero, which is designed to prevent fractures by stimulating bone development and preventing falls. Developed in Australia, Onero has shown significant improvements in bone mineral density and functional measures for balance, muscle strength, and posture.
Gould is passionate about spreading awareness of the benefits of exercise for bone health and is collecting data from her clients to demonstrate the effectiveness of the Onero program. She plans to present her findings at the next regional osteoporosis conference.
With the increasing awareness of the impact of bone density on quality of life, Gould’s work is crucial in helping people actively combat bone loss and maintain their overall health and well-being.
