In a remarkable transformation, a woman embarked on a fitness journey at the age of 49 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and went on to compete in a bodybuilding competition at the age of 50.

The woman, who had never considered herself athletic, decided to make a change in her life after realizing her wedding rings no longer fit due to weight gain. She started following people on Instagram who were bodybuilding and counting macros, which inspired her to believe in the possibility of achieving her fitness goals.

With the help of an online company called Macros Inc., she was set up with a coach who calculated her macros and provided workout videos. She completely changed her dietary habits and started lifting weights at home five days a week. She also incorporated cardio and focused on staying in her fat-burning heart-rate zone.

After eight months, she lost 50 pounds and began working with a program called The Wonder Women to learn bodybuilding in a gym. She competed in her first competition 27 months after starting her fitness journey.

The woman credits Instagram for helping her build a supportive community of women who have been key to her success. She is currently training to compete in bodybuilding again next year, focusing on building strength and muscle retention.

Reflecting on her journey, she emphasizes the importance of consistency, discipline, and motivation. She encourages other women to believe in their ability to achieve their fitness goals and take control of how they age.
