7 Habits of Fitness to Maintain Youthfulness, as Recommended by a 69-Year-Old Trainer

Fitness Habits to Stay Young: Insights from 69-Year-Old Liz Hilliard

The story of 69-year-old Liz Hilliard, owner and creator of the Hilliard Studio Method, is truly inspiring. Despite her age, she looks and feels younger than ever, thanks to her dedication to fitness and health. Hilliard shares her top fitness habits that keep her looking 25, including strength training, core-centric exercises, daily walks, pushups, stretching, foam rolling, and resting.

Hilliard emphasizes the importance of strength training, which she does four to five times a week using a combination of Pilates-based exercises with weights and resistance bands. This routine has not only increased her muscle mass but also improved her balance and flexibility.

In addition to strength training, Hilliard focuses on core-centric exercises to strengthen her spine and keep her injury-free. She also enjoys daily walks, not for the step count, but for the mental and physical benefits they provide.

Hilliard sets a goal of completing 30 pushups every day, believing that everyone should be able to do one pushup for every year they’ve been alive. She also incorporates stretching and foam rolling into her routine to address tight or stressed areas of her body.

Lastly, Hilliard emphasizes the importance of rest and having a support system to keep her accountable and make workouts fun. By following these habits, Hilliard proves that age is just a number and that staying active and healthy can truly defy the aging process.
